Principal's Message

Welcome back to a new school year!
The following 5 CEP goals will help to focus us this school year.  These objectives were created through a compilation of feedback from PPO reviews, the Learning Environment Survey, the Framework for Great Schools, and the Quality Review.
By June of 2019, 100% of teachers will be engaged in a school culture that values rigorous teaching and learning by creating ongoing opportunities for high levels of planning and implementation of the plans.  Teachers will work together to create stronger lesson plans that not only differentiate instruction, but identify possible misconceptions prior to the delivery of the lesson.  This new plan design will result in an average teacher increase of .25 points (in comparison to last year's results) in Danielson areas 1A/1E.
By October 2018, all M.S. 129 students will be engaged in a student civility program utilizing Restorative Justice materials. The initial program has been designed by our School Leadership Team (SLT), led by teacher Angela Gallombardo.  The aforementioned student "civility" program will show an average overall decrease in OORS reports by 5% (as per last school year's average) by June 2019.
By June 2019, our mathematics vertical team will analyze student work to capture trends and develop next steps to continually modify curriculum maps to ensure equity for all students in grades 6-8 mathematics.  This work will result in an average increase of 35 scale score points for all students taking the mathematics state assessment.
By September 2018, a formal observation template will be in place to effectively track observation completion rates.  M.S. 129 completion rates will remain above the suggested "percentage of completion" for all checks throughout the entire school year.
By June of 2019, M.S. 129 will hold a minimum of 10 parent workshops, 2 principal huddles, and 4 large scale family events to promote a higher level of parent involvement and a better sense of community.
I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready for a new school year!
