Minutes:

 

  • Welcome
  • Mrs. Davis used the opportunity to ask the members of the team what should be included in the summary section of the CEP. She further asked members to state what were some features about MS 129 that set it apart from other middle schools.
  • Ayana Grant shared that MS 129 is a school that is fun and engaging.
  • Mr. Martinez stated that M.S 129 is inclusive and welcoming.
  • Mr. Ross indicated that the school has teachers who work one to one with students.
  • Mrs. Davis shared information about the after-school programs that are currently in the school.
  • Ms. Davis shared information about college access week and the details of the program which already exists within the school but had been paused due to the pandemic.
  • Mrs. Davis shared our enrichment programs including urban Advantage and the honor society.
  •  Mrs. Davis shared about our new 3D printer lab and the fact that students will be excited about this new feature in the school’s computer lab.
  •  Ms. Harris commented that MS 129 is an intimate setting for students.
  •  Ms. N’konde stated that her child is very happy and speaks highly of the teachers.
  • Ms. Ewan Harris added MS 129 has a culturally responsive curriculum
  •  Mrs. Davis explained that The Summer Rising program is an opportunity for students to make up missed work and engage in an enrichment program.
  •  Mrs. Davis explained that the program will be held Monday- Thursday from 8-4pm and this program will include enrichment. Enrichment will be offered to students who are not mandated for summer school.
  • Mrs. Davis also made mention that students who have a NX will be mandated to attend summer rising unless they make up the work before the end of June.
  • 8th graders who have an NX will not be promoted to the next grade.
  •  Mrs. David discussed parent attending the CEC Elections tonight.
  •  Mrs. Davis asked if any parents are considering sending their kids to summer rising.
  •  Mr. Plummer motioned for a meeting adjournment.
  •  Ms. Ross second the motion.

Welcome

  

  • Mr. Reyes shared the overview of planning the CEP and the goals of CEP , advancing the initiative of equity in our schools.
  •  Mr. Reyes shared focus of instructional leadership team.
  •  Mr. Reyes shared seven steps of the CEP planning process and practices
  •  Mr. Reyes explained the CEP will set goals , and initiatives to help student achieve success
  •  Mr. Reyes explained the importance of knowing our school name.
  •  Mr. Reyes explained that the CEP should represent everything at our school.
  •  Mr. Reyes and Mrs. Davis explained MS 129 is in good standing and eventually want to achieve a reward school.
  •  Mr. Plummer asked what would a reward school look like?
  •  Mr. Reyes shared MS 129 is the top 90th percentile for growth in NYS
  •  Mr. Plummer suggested advocating for more space or another facility
  •  Ms. Harris suggested Saturday programming due to limit space.
  •  Ayana Grant asked about 8th grade trips
  •  Ms. Ross asked about the upcoming school year and will classes resume in person and will testing be mandatory.
  •   Mr. Reyes explained 95% percent chance f school returning to normal
  •  Ms. Bennet explained how the mobile bus will help with health screening and she spoke today someone from Chase Bank to implement financial literacy.
  •  Mr. Reyes mentioned CEC elections held on May 11th.
  •  Mr. Reyes discussed the D 12 town hall meeting with Mrs. Porter on 5/11
  •  Mr. Reyes moved for the meeting to be adjourn
  •  Mr. Plummer second the motion

Meeting Minutes

  • Welcome
  • Introduction from Ms. Ewan Harris
  • Mr. Plummer   read minutes from previous meeting.
  • Mrs. Davis reviewed and discussed the instructional focus.
  • Ms. Ewan Harris asked if anyone had any questions or concerns
  • Mr. Reyes spoke about the importance of attending SLT Meetings.
  • Mr. Reyes made references to and went over our instructional focus and CEP Goals.
  • Mr. Reyes   said the SLT Team will look at the main points of the CEP Goals at our next meeting.
  • Ms. Ewan Harris closed the meeting.
