Me-to-You Service Learning Program
We need to instill strong values and good moral character in our students as they are constantly approached with tough choices from the neighborhood and the surrounding community. Students are selected on each grade level (6, 7, and 8) to be a member of the “Me to You” team. All sub-groups of students are represented in this program: special education, English Language Learners, high or low academic achievement, etc. The members of this team will learn the importance of being productive members of society and working with others, as well as raising awareness of various causes or conditions.
“Me to You” meets weekly after school and coordinates and/or participates in a special activity or event each month. Activities include the participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, collecting food for local food pantries and for the Thanksgiving basket raffle, packing and distributing care packages for the homeless, and preparing the Respect for All Week activities.
Ms. Rosario, School Counselor, and Ms. Peters, Related Services Social Worker are the Me-to-You coordinators and Ms. Paez-Estrada, Assistant Principal, oversees the program.
