You’ve written an argument that explains one way a fecal transplant can cure infected patients. You explained that the helpful bacteria transferred into the gut during the transplant use up food and space in the gut, making it harder for the harmful bacteria to survive.

🧫The scientists at the Microbiome Research Institute think there are other ways that a fecal transplant might help a patient. Today, you’ll be gathering evidence to support one of the remaining two subclaims in order to find other ways that fecal transplants help patients.

📄📃In these experiments, scientists wanted to learn how the presence of a particular type of bacteria in a mouse’s gut microbiome affected the health of its gut.
