Our Mission and Vision

Our mission at the Academy for Independent Learning and Leadership is to immerse students in an academic culture where student voice and identity is empowered and centered through rigorous learning experiences. Through learning activities in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, our scholars will develop the ability to articulate themselves confidently, problem solve effectively, work collaboratively, and to think critically and creatively. They will contribute to the progression of their communities through service learning experiences, and will engage in social justice education so that they can identify ways to create change where they see a necessity. They will develop awareness to social issues within their communities and learn how to take action to address them.

Our students will utilize their power and voice to become innovative thinkers and through action and advocacy to make the changes necessary to improve their communities.
